Pencil Fairies...

Does your house have them? Mine sure does... Little fairies who come and steal every pencil in the house right before homework is to be finished. If they don't steal them, they break the lead off and leave them in the pencil drawer, but not before stealing the pencil sharpener.... just wait until I call the pencil police.... :)

What A Year...

This has been an incredibly long year for many reasons, but I'm finally settled back into my little casa with my sweet kiddos and ready to face the road ahead...
I decided to not sub this year and got a job in the front office at the Love Bug's school... I love, love, love it! I get to see my little Bug at each recess and lunch and hug his neck...it's the best!
Since I made a LOT more money subbing last year, I had to do something to help out with the difference in pay...so one day I saw an email at work from the High School, looking for an assistant coach for the girl's varsity soccer team...I thought, well if no one else wants to do it, I will. So I emailed them and told them that I was willing and had ZERO experience...Lo and Behold, they hired me. They were desperate, I know, but so am I. It's been week two of practice and so far I have learned many, many important things about soccer. Like, never call the field a court and the goalie is not the goalie (that's hockey), she's the Keeper...I'm sure that when this is all over, I will be super knowledgeable in the whole soccer thing....I am looking forward to a great season! Go Bulldogs!!!

Isn't Madonna From The Fifties?

Ok, so Lizzy-Lu and I were driving home the other day. It was pretty late in the evening and I turned my Ipod on to the "Music" song by Madonna (I love it because it has really a really good bass). We were cruising down the road with the stereo cranked in my Suburban, (don't laugh, I love my car), thinking I was so cool with my stereo loud and the windows down on a cool summer night. I lowered the stereo for a bit realizing that Lizzy probably has no idea of who the heck was singing, and said, "This song is called Music and is sung by Madonna." Her reply was, "Isn't Madonna from the fifties?" Yea, I pretty much turned off the Ipod and sulked in the thought that my poor sweet daughter had no idea who Madonna was and that she has no concept of time....(We have a lot of work to do).

I Finally Made it....

The Strawberry stuff that is. I made it the other day and my family loved it! It was super delicious. A couple of things I would have done differently were to make sure the cream cheese is really soft, and maybe not so much whip cream. Ok, I have to admit that when I made it, I didn't follow the directions, I just added what I thought the recipe said to add. Whoops! Follow the directions, that's what I'll do differently next time. :)

Strawberry YUM!!!

I got this recipe from RosYcHeeK's blog...I have to admit that I haven't tried it yet, but just reading the recipe satisfied my taste buds so I had to share...

-One quart of strawberries (washed and sliced) (put a few aside for garnishing..)
-1 pkg. strawberry glaze
-1 box of Twinkies...(mmmm)
-1 can sweetened condensed milk
-1-8oz. pkg. cream cheese, softened....holy cream cheese.....
-1 1/2 tub of extra creamy cool whip...the red tub....

-So, you mix the strawberries with the glaze and set aside.....then you mix the cream cheese and sweet milk together and then fold in, gently, the cool whip......
- Then you cut the Twinkies lengthwise and lay them in an 8x8 pan....(they'll be cut in half and so you'll have one layer of Twinkies halves...make sense?)
-finally, you top the Twinkies layer with half of the strawberry glaze mixture, then half of the creamcheesy, milk, coolwhippy, delishousnesss.... ... and then repeat the layers....Twinkies, strawberry..., creamcheesey....,then finish it off with a few strawberry slices on top.....

I will try it this weekend and let you know.....:)

LSHMSFOAIDMT.......

Laughed so hard my sombrero fell off and I dropped my taco.....hehe....

Bakerella...

Have you seen her blog? It is so awesome! She is absolutely amazing! She has these things called cake pops. Brandee and I made some over the Easter holiday. They were so dang cute! I think they would have turned out better if I had followed the directions, but I have an issue with directions. Go figure! Anyway, I made the cute little chick pops. I didn't have sucker sticks, (small town, limited resources...), so I dyed some coconut green and put in into a mini cupcake liner and stuck the chick on top...I will have to upload the pics a.s.a.p.... They were cute!
Anyway, check her out at http://www.bakerella.com/ . I suggest that you follow the directions, unless you just want me to tell you what I did wrong...that works too....lol....

Practice, Practice, Practice...

Well, this afternoon was out third softball practice. It was the best so far. The girls are really starting to come out of their shy, hiding places and shine. We are working our bootays off and having a ball doing it. We may not be the lady Diamondbacks, but we sure will have fun pretending to be...:) Thanks so much for all of your words of encouragement and helpful advice. You are the best!

Bags and Purses...

I have an obsession! I don't even really go anywhere special enough to have so many bags or purses (other than church and school), but I guess I'm set in case I ever do. I was cleaning out from under the bed the other day and realized that I have so many that they aren't fitting under there anymore. It was like Christmas finding purses that had been forgotten for reasons that I do not understand. I tried really hard to get rid of them (really, I did)! Then I talked myself out of that one really quickly because, heaven forbid I should get rid of the red purse in case I ever wear red, or the cute bag that I use at the pool, because you never know when I may need a bag in that shade of orange. The fun thing about going through my old, I mean experienced purses is finding things that were forgotten (like money and fun flavored chapstick)! Anyway, so I was thinking about why I have such a soft spot for cute bags that need a good home. The best answer I could come up with was that you can't outgrow them like you can your clothes. :)

I'm Just Saying....

Don't you wish sometimes that people wouldn't just say? I was laughing at myself today as a dear friend of mine was telling me about a tragic act of ignorance on the part of an acquantaince of hers. Apparently, I am one of these people who says, "Well, if you ask me...." Only, she didn't. I guess I need to stop talking before I start and listen a little more than I do. (So, hard!) I'm just saying...

Big Girl Panties...

I bought this cute, little sign from Robyn's Nest that says,"Put on your big girl panties and deal with it!" I love it! I'm sorry to all of you that have had to listen to me say a million times, but seriously... Sometimes, there are those time when it is appropriate and nothing else comes to mind when you really think someone needs to "suck it up". Big Girl Panties sounds a lot nicer, don't ya think?

Lovingly, Patiently, Kindly, Frustratingly,

Well, apparently, I am not the most patient person in the world. Go figure! I have been trying like mad to get my kids to learn how to do things right, the first time. I'm talking about cleaning things. I figure that if they will start here, they will get the gist of it and use it in all of their other daily dealings. Wishful thinking, I know. Anyway, I don't have a dishwasher, actually, I do...I have three of them. Two of them are well old enough to learn how to wash the dishes and wash them right. (The younger one is in training. :) Anyway, I have been trying like mad to teach them how to wash, sweep, and wipe behind the lovelies on the counter, and whatever else cleaning the kitchen entails. It's killing me! I guess I expect them to be able to clean like an adult would ( or should anyway), and they are just not getting it. Maybe I am expecting too much, maybe, I am being tested for a reason, maybe... ughhh... Ok, Deep breath...I am going to lovingly, patiently, kindly, and maybe a little frustratingly keep trying to "help" them learn to become proper little cleaners of the kitchen. LOL...Wish me luck!!!

Spring Fever

Well, it has been a while since I last posted anything. I have suddenly found the urge to start spring cleaning. I have been following the flylady for a while now, but never really followed her advice. I am starting over as a flybaby. Her website is great ( www.flylady.com) she has a list of baby steps to take to get your house ( and mine) up to par when it comes to cleaning.
Step one is to shine our sinks every night before we go to bed. She says that we should develop the habit of wiping the sink clean each and every time we use it. I am going to put a dry hand towel next to the sink and instruct my kids to do the same. I'm taking bets on how long this will last, but it has to start somewhere, right? Wish me luck! Off I go to shine my sinks before bed. Good night!
